How to Make a Stonecutter in Minecraft

Stonecutter Minecraft

The stonecutter is a tool block that allows you to craft items out of stone.

Initially only available in the Pocket Edition, the stone cutter eventually found its way to other platforms.

It has a similar function to the crafting table in that it is used to craft items. However, it can only be used with stone.

The stonecutter is actually more efficient than the crafting table for making stone items.

For example, you can create a set of stone stairs from 1 block of stone using the stonecutter. To make stairs using a crafting table, you need 3 stone blocks.

As well as crafting a stonecutter, you can find them in villages. They spawn in the mason’s house and can be used by a mason villager.

Platform Information

The stonecutter is not supported on all platforms.

Before attempting to craft, check which platforms and versions include a stonecutter.

Required Materials

To make a stonecutter you are going to need 1 x iron ingot and 3 x stone blocks.

Iron ingots can be obtained by smelting iron ore in a furnace. Stone blocks are also made in a furnace by smelting cobblestone.

You will need a crafting table to be able to make a stonecutter.

Walk up to your crafting table and press the appropriate button to open the crafting menu.

2. Place the materials

When you open the crafting menu, you will see a 3×3 grid, a solitary box, and your inventory.

To craft a stonecutter, you will need to place the materials in the correct pattern into the crafting grid.

The top row should have the iron ingot in the middle box. The second row should contain the 3 pieces of stone. The bottom row of the crafting grid should be empty.

3. Collect your stonecutter

When the ingredients are placed in the correct pattern, a stonecutter will appear in the box to the right of the grid.

You need to pick up the stonecutter and place it in your crafting inventory to complete the crafting process.

If you don’t do this and simply exit the crafting menu, all the materials will drop to the ground around the crafting table.
